— GENERAL UPDATE —

Hello!

It’s been a bit.

Lately the world has been a bit more… well… you know. I have been largely been just trying to get through it. Things personally are pretty good. There’s a new kitten, there’s been a lot of cool and exciting work things. Games, TV, and all that jazz. I am going to focus on that here for the most part.

I don’t have any grandiose statements or anything to add to “the conversation” as it were.

Lately I have been mostly “Offline”. This is mostly because the social spaces have become infested with so much rage bait, misinformation, and bad behavior that it’s a completely unhealthy experience. I was never really a participant in the conversation, but now it’s unpleasant to even lurk in the vents.

I don’t think it’s good to have a constant flood of that kind of toxicity and I do believe it’s making everything and everyone worse.

And… I don’t necessarily think my personal weigh in on all of the possible topics will change anything or make the world a better place. I stand where I stand on things. People I know personally are likely to know where I stand on those things. I guess all I will say is that I am displeased by the state of the world and wish it would… do something better.

This is where I focus on the micro versus the macro.

— THE NEW YEAR —

We made it another cycle around the sun. It’s now 2026.

Last year was such a whirlwind of ups and downs personally, but we made it.
Breeze has been a really good buddy and has decided that we should have a new friend.
We have adopted Granite and he too has been a great buddy.

He came with some stomach bugs, but we’re making our way through treating that issue.
Granite likes coils and he likes to grab your hand and pet himself with it. He’s very good.

— SHOWS —
Currently, I am in the show hole. Sort of.

I am out of episodic stuff and am more in the variety and more one off stuff.

The primary show of the current time is, Taskmaster.

Excellent show. It’s made the whole battle against parasites while the world burns down a bit more manageable.

— GAMES —

I’ve carried over a couple things from 2025.

I started a new cyberpunk run and that’s going through the Phantom Liberty content. It’s pretty good, but I think it is a little more spectacle driven than the base game. It’s a little less believable that the president is seeking you out to do some errands for the government than the original events of the game. That being said, I am enjoying the almost spy noir vibe it’s giving.

I’ve also been crawling through Final Fantasy IV. It’s… almost there. You can absolutely see the skeleton of a modern final fantasy game in this one. One where it’s less about “There’s four crystals and a big baddo who wants em” and more about the world around the crystals. That said, it’s not very good at letting you know where to go next. It feeds information in cutscenes and then makes it very difficult to pick up where you left off if you’re someone like me and put the game down for like…. 4 months. I’ve used a strategy guide for this one more than I have in almost any game I’ve played. If I lose track of what’s happening the game just shrugs and says “That’s your problem”. Currently, I am at the final fight and…. hoof. It’s pretty difficult. I’m level 60 and I’m getting wiped pretty hard. Not sure if there’s some trick to beating the thing… but we’ll get there.

— FOOTBALL —

Boy howdy, what a season. I think our dudes (Buffalo Bills) played well, but we just couldn’t get over the hump. We made a bunch of structural changes, too. We’ll see if they pay off.

— COMPUTERING —

I’ve been computering hard lately. I’ve been learning a lot more of the infrastructure side of storage platforms. It’s been a lot of work, but I think I am getting more of a hang of how this stuff works. I don’t necessarily think I can get into a lot of the details there. But it’s been an interesting challenge to overcome and it’s something I am hoping to make a lot of ground in.

I’d like to make a more generalized blog about the current state of the industry and what I think about that, because it’s something I can have some impact in. Who knows.

Anywho. Signing off for now.
